From Folk to Opera: A Journey Through the Genres

Thank you for choosing Equal Tempered Studio for your next creative project. After spending my teenage years performing folk and gospel music with my family in western Iowa, I decided to venture into the world of music. I received my Bachelors of Music from the University of Iowa and Masters of Music from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. I performed opera for a number of years, traveling to such companies as Kentucky Opera, St. Petersburg Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, and Knoxville Opera. After moving to Richmond, Virginia, I performed primarily choral music at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Virginia Chorale, and many more.

Other than performing, I have composed and recorded music for over a decade, including genres such as Bluegrass, Singer-Songwriter, Folk and Gospel, Choir, and Classical Voice and Opera. I've composed over 100 choir, solo voice, folk, and chamber music pieces, including five commissions for such groups as The Piedmont Singers of Central Virginia and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church's premiere chamber choir, Sanctuary.

Even though my official Equal Tempered Studio brand is less than six months old, my work can already be heard from coast to coast. From Hampden-Sydney College in central Virginia to the San Francisco Youth Chorus, my passion for realistic performance recordings continues to bring joy to the ensembles I help and serve.

Every artist needs to create. To live is to create. I encourage exploration outside the mainstream, tapping into any realm of abstraction your heart desires. Why should an artist be hindered by the expectations of popular performance practice and marketing restrictions?

It's time to realize your musical dream.
